Cute Crochet Garden Amigurumi Bowl - The Garden Bowl

Over the next few days we will be making a crochet bowl full of different amigurumi fruits and vegetables. Decorations or... well... TOYS!
Today we will make the bowl...

Supplies
SUPER CHUNKY WEIGHT YARN (you can double or tripple lighter weight yarns and work them with a 9 or 10 mm hook as a super bulky yarn if you don't happen to have some lying about like I did)
Size 8-10mm crochet hook, whatever your yarn calls for. Mine uses an 9mm.
Scissors
Darning needle or yarn needle
Stitch marker

Abbreviations
HDC = Half Double Crochet
SC = Single Crochet
MR = Magic Ring - a slip knot used to draw the circle closed once you have worked your stitches in
SL ST = Slip Stitch
SK = Skip the number of stitches indicated in the pattern
F/O = Finish Off - usually a SL ST and sewing in your ends

The Bowl Pattern
When working in the round a stitch marker is very helpful
Round 1: 8 HDC in MR (8) - draw tight and sew in after Round 2
Round 2: INC in all around (16)
Round 3: HDC then INC and repeat around (24)
Round 4: 2 HDC then INC and repeat around (32)
Round 5: 3 HDC then INC and repeat around (40)
Round 6: 4 HDC then INC and repeat around (48)
Round 7-9: HDC in each around (48)
Round 10: SC in each around (48) at last stitch of Round 10 SK the last stitch and SL ST into the next stitch and F/O
SK the last stitch
and SL ST into the next one then sew in your end

I was working towards a bowl that is about 8" across the bottom with 2" sides... something that would encourage the amigurumi to hang out showing themselves off, and still keep them from rolling around between times when they are being played with.

Have fun! :D This is the storage bowl for a whole garden full of fun friends! Maybe a cool holiday gift?
