Cute Amigurumi Garden Bowl - Lemons and Limes
Two for one! Today we finish off our bowls full of fruits and vegetables. A Garden of Amigurumi toys.
Thank you so much for joining us on this fun trip through cute table decor... best for tea parties and sharing and playing with friends.
Supplies
Worsted weight yarn in bright green and bright yellow - I used Fair Isle Yarns Liberty Lemon Pucker and Limerick Pop
4.5mm crochet hook - lemon
3.5mm crochet hook - lime
yarn or darning needle
safety eyes - I used 12mm on lemon and 10mm on lime
polyfil or doll stuffing
stitch marker
Abbreviations
SC = Single Crochet
MR = Magic Ring
INC = Increase
DEC = Decrease
F/O = Finish Off
Notes
You will use the same pattern for each fruit, the difference in size is the size of the hook, as limes are usually a little smaller or even a LOT smaller than lemons (I got spoiled to very large sweet lemons)
This is the only figure type in the bowl that I chose to put their eyes on sideways, so that they lay on their sides when viewed properly... if you choose you can orient your amigurumi standing up and move the eyes to the top or bottom of the doll. Remember to place your eyes before you stuff and to keep them in the same row and the same number of stitches apart and you're golden!
Lemons and Limes
4.5mm hook lemon
3.5mm hook lime
Round 1: 6 SC in MR (6) - draw tight and sew in your end after Round 2
Round 2: SC around (6)
Round 3: INC in each around (12)
Round 4: SC then INC and repeat around (18)
Round 5: SC around (18)
Round 6: 2 SC then INC and repeat around (24)
Round 7: SC around (24)
Add the first safety eye between Rounds 8 and 9, add second safety eye between Rounds 15 and 16 in the same line as the first one.
Stuff up and around the first eye after you add it, and then wait to stuff the doll body until you have added the second.
Round 8: 3 SC then INC and repeat around (30)
Rounds 9-17: SC around (30)
Round 18: 3 SC then DEC and repeat around (24)
Round 19: SC around (24)
Round 20: 2 SC then DEC and repeat around (18)
Round 21: SC around (18)
Add stuffing.
Round 22: SC then DEC and repeat around (12)
Round 23: DEC in each around (6)
Add stuffing.
Round 24: SC around (6) then F/O by sewing through the front loop only around the remaining 6 stitches then draw tight and lose yarn into the body of the fruit.
This ends the veggies and fruits for this Garden Bowl of Amigurumi. A surprise will appear later this evening, for anyone planning on gifting these cuties to a kiddo who might like a way to store them, or "shop" for them in play time.
So bright and so fun. These citrus guys might even enjoy playing catch if you're nice about it! I juggled mine, they seemed to enjoy it.
You can buy a set of them on my shop, or you can make your own! This set is on the way to Wheatland, Wyoming... because a friend really needed them!
There is also a really cute onion and some awesome little crochet fruits available at the Fair Isle Yarn patterns shop... free... if you wanted just one or two or three more for the collection! :D
Have an awesome holiday season!
Ruth
