12Squared Simple Gifts - Gorgeous Fur Cowl
With a couple of hours and a few dollars you can make this terrific fluffy cowl that doubles as a hood. So soft and lovely that it looks and feels glamorous and at the same time super easy to care for and wear.
Supplies
2 skeins of Boa by Fair Isle Yarn - You see here Mist and Cool Blue
10mm crochet hook
large hole crochet needle
scissors
stitch marker
Abbreviations
CH = Chain
DC = Double Crochet
SL ST = Slip Stitch
SK = Skip the number of stitches listed in the pattern
Notes
This project will be worked in the round, a stitch marker is very useful, particularly with this fluffy furry yarn that tends to hide your stitches from you.
Remember that sewing in your ends with fluffy yarn can be a trick, and that it's always best if you sew one direction then back along the stitches in the other direction and back in the original direction. Particularly with this lush soft yarn that has so much give.
The pattern
Round 1: CH 50 and SL ST into first CH to join then CH 2 (counts as first DC) and put your stitch marker in this stitch then DC in each CH around to your stitch marker
To Finish Off in Round do not yarn over for your last DC and instead SK the last stitch where your stitch marker is and SL ST into the next stitch. Sew in your ends and trim them. This helps pull the spiral from working in the round back down into a more even shape.
Enjoy.
This yarn is so soft that it wants to cuddle into your face and neck and is just dense enough that it will also lay over your ears to keep them warm.
Watch for the fingerless gloves pattern... that you could finish with fur around the edges and make to match your gorgeous fur cowl!

use your fingers, with a 10mm hook you should be able to feel
the top of the DC stitch with your fingertip
I used a little bulb shaped safety pin stitch marker, super easy
to find and use. and otherwise not in the way.
Rounds 2- 12: Work a DC in the top of your marked stitch, move the stitch marker into the DC you just made and then work a DC in the top of each stitch around.To Finish Off in Round do not yarn over for your last DC and instead SK the last stitch where your stitch marker is and SL ST into the next stitch. Sew in your ends and trim them. This helps pull the spiral from working in the round back down into a more even shape.
